Starry Nights at Beecraigs Country Park: ‘A Magical Illuminated Christmas Experience’

Having just passed the Winter Solstice, the days are very short here in Scotland, and we are always looking for ways to brighten up our evenings. One of our favourite activities is to explore the various light installation experiences that are popular this time of year. We’ve previously visited Christmas at the Botanics, Monteviot Lights, and Castle of Light. This year, we decided to venture to a lovely spot near Linlithgow- Beecraigs Country Park. So join us as we take you on an illuminated exploration through the woods!

As soon as you enter Starry Nights at Beecraigs Country Park, you know that it is going to be an enjoyable evening. The event is fun for all ages as they have rides for the kids in the ‘Festive Funfair’ as well as some delicious food options for everyone in the ‘Festive Food Village’.

However, for us, the highlight is the illuminated trail. Let’s head into the woods but be sure to stay on the path because you never know what or who you might come across!

As we set out on our “magical illuminated Christmas experience”, I hope you wore your dancing shoes. Those shiny disco balls hanging from the trees in the ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ section sure set the party mood.

Step lightly twinkle toes and keep moving forward- we have a lot of ground to cover. Let’s head through this beautiful 'starry night' and see where it takes us.

I hope you have a sweet tooth, because we’ve now entered ‘Candy Cane Lane’. Although perhaps we should be a bit cautious as we are in the woods, and these candy canes remind me of a certain Hansel and Gretel story.

Do you hear that melodic ringing sound? Those ‘Chiming Bells’ will help guide us along the trail.

All right, this next section is my favourite, but we need to be very quiet because we don’t want to disturb the fairies in ‘The Fairy Forest’. Look closely, can you see them hiding among the trees? Let’s just hope they aren’t like the fairies in our Castle Campbell post!

Well, you can certainly tell that we are in a magical woodland because it appears as if the deer are positively glowing with light from within! Let’s be sure to stay on the path so we don’t disturb them.

I don’t know about you, but I feel as if we’ve entered another galaxy as we walk through this ‘Laser Aurora’.

Zip up your jackets and put on your hat and gloves, we’re now making our way to a ‘Snowball Blizzard’! It looks like Frosty and his elf are having fun in the snow.

I don’t know about you, but I think we should take a wee detour off the trail to warm up by the ‘Christmas Campfire’. A toasted marshmallow sounds good about right now.

Now that we’ve warmed up, we’ll make our way back to the trail and continue to put our dancing shoes to good use as we take a ‘Magical Meander’ through the ‘Elf Disco’.

Oh no! It looks like we have to walk through Whoville, and we all know who lives there- the Grinch!

Phew- we made it safely through Whoville and have finished our Starry Nights ‘magical illuminated Christmas experience’!

Tomorrow is the last day of Starry Nights, but this is an annual event. So, if you are in Scotland in the month of December and looking to brighten up your night, be sure to check out their website to find the most up-to-date information.
