Monteviot Lights is an enchanting forest light trail that offers a unique and magical experience to visitors. Whether it's the twinkle of fairy lights or the grandeur of an illuminated tree, the magic of holiday lights is something that truly embodies the spirit of the season. They bring a sense of wonder to both children and adults alike, reminding us all to embrace the season and to find joy in the simplest things.
We recently visited this incredible event- the Scottish Borders’ first winter light trail- and are thrilled to share a bit of our experience with all of you. So, sit back, relax, and let us take you on a journey through the captivating world of Monteviot Lights!
The magic of lights during the holiday season is something that can truly take one's breath away. During this time of year, darkness comes early, and the weather can be harsh, but the twinkle of colourful lights can bring warmth and joy to any heart. Each light has the power to transform even the most mundane of surroundings into something truly special. Without a doubt, this concept is something that Monteviot Lights understands very well.
The use of lights during winter also has a deeper meaning. For many, they represent hope and renewal, a symbol of the light that will eventually return after the darkest time of the year. They serve as a reminder that even in the coldest and darkest of seasons, there is always beauty and warmth to be found.
I find walking through the woods on a clear night with a fresh layer of snow can be invigorating to one's spirit. The crisp air, the crunch of snow underfoot, and the quiet stillness all around can be incredibly calming. The world feels different at night, especially when there's snow on the ground. It's as if it is quietly hibernating, waiting for spring to arrive.
As you walk through the forest, you can't help but feel a sense of joy. The snow-covered trees and bushes glisten in the moonlight, and the stars twinkle above in your own special winter wonderland.
You might even catch a glimpse of a deer, other animals, or magical beings that are out and about, enjoying the peace and quiet of the night. 😉
There's something special about being out in nature, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. It's a chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
As you stroll about, it's always best to fortify and refuel with delicious treats and hot seasonal beverages.
Without a doubt, Monteviot Lights is one of my favourite seasonal light trails I have ever done! Therefore, if you are near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders, we highly recommend that you go and experience this in person. From the mesmerizing light displays to the peaceful natural surroundings, there's something there for everyone to enjoy. So, take a moment to bask in the glow of the lights and let their magic fill your heart with joy and hope.
Please note that the event is only on until the 10th of December- be sure to check out their website for more information on how you can experience the magic and enchantment of Monteviot Lights.
